Flint's dramatic historyAlso at the Sloan Museum: "20th Century Gallery: Flint and the American Dream" - Flint's dramatic history as the birthplace of GM comes to life at the Sloan Museum! Take a fascinating journey through Flint from the birth of the auto industry to the present. Over 600 artifacts and photographs including rare antique cars, period clothing, commercial goods and more.

 


"Portrait Figures in Minature: The Pierson Doll Collection"
- After 17 years of storage, Carol Churchill Pierson's historical Doll Collection is back on display. This display shows 120 figures in their historical settings, the First Ladies as well as the Japanese Dolls that inspired Ms. Pierson who had a mission: using dolls to teach history and traditions.

 

 

Sloan Sweet Side DisplayExplore Flint’s history in the confectionary business with "The Sweet Side." This small exhibit begins with Flint’s tasty past, leading into the chocolate-making process, and explores the influence in our everyday lives as part of our culture.

"Whaley Historical House Museum" - Located on historic Kearsley Street in Flint's Cultural Center and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historical Whaley House Museum offers a glimpse of Flint's past during the 1800s. Built by R.J. and Mary Whaley in 1885, the museum exhibits hundreds of family and Victorian era furnishings and artifacts. The Museum represents an era when Flint began the transition from a small lumbering community to one of the world's largest automotive industrial centers. Listen to the entertaining stories about the Whaley family and discover how they shaped their community and their important role in the creation of General Motors.
