Sloan Museum's Buick Gallery
and Research Center features over 25 classic and concept Buicks,
Chevrolets, and other locally built automobiles. Featured vehicles
on exhibit are the 1910 Buick Bug race car, 1951 Buick XP-300
and 1954 Buick Wildcat II concept cars, and a Hellcat Tank Destroyer
built by Buick during World War II. Adjacent to the Buick Gallery
is the museum's Perry Archives. The Archives houses a wide array
of photographs, records, and objects chronicling the people and
history of Flint and Genesee County, Michigan.

Doll Collection: Portraits in Miniature"

After 17 years in storage, the Pierson
Doll Collection is available at the Sloan Museum. Come see over
100 historical figures in their historical settings, the First
Ladies as well as the Japanese Dolls that inspired Carol Pierson
who had a mission - using dolls to teach history and traditions.
Throughout her life, Carol Pierson collected many dolls in her
travels and in 1966 she donated the figures to the Sloan Museum.
They were on continuous exhibit until 1991, when it became clear
that the effects of light, heat and dust were damaging them. The
people and events depicted by the figures are Carol Pierson's
very personal view of important events in world and American history.

Anniversary, Sloan Museum and the Horsepower Hall of Fame are
teaming up to present an outstanding selection of General Motors

collectible nationally known automotive artists. Pieces representing
General Motors past, present and future automobiles will astound

Ongoing Exhibit
Flint's dramatic history as the birthplace of General Motors
comes to life at the Alfred P. Sloan Museum. Flint and the American
Dream takes visitors on a fascinating journey through Flint in
the 20th century - from the birth of the auto industry to the
present. Here visitors encounter the ups and downs of General
Motors, the birht of the UAW, Flint's role as the "Arsenal
of Democracy" and what life was like during the 50s, 60s
and 70s. The gallery is packed with over 600 artifacts and photographs,
including rare antique automobiles, colorful neon signs, period
clothing, household furnishings and commercial goods.

cars, trucks and motorcycles around. The event kicks off Friday
evening with an at-will cruise from the Flushing A&W restaurant.
Then on Saturday and Sunday, enjoy lectures, Feature Cars, exhibits,
planetarium shows, kids activities, music and much much more!

our lives. Try your hand at a 1911 engine crank and experience
the changing techology of the automotive industry. Discover how
technological advancements in the automotive world continue today
with a look at automotive racing in "Designed for Speed."

down for a "tea party" amongst the fancy furnishings
in a 19th Century Victorian Parlor. Put on your poodle skirts
and roll up your sleeves for a snack in a 1950's style Halfway
Cafe. Experience the many culture changes that have evolved in
Flint as this farm town grew into an automotive boom town. Journey
through the 20th century and discover how fashion, housing, vacationing

workshop presented by Longway Planetarium Astronomer, Richard
Walker. Explore different types of telescopes, eyepieces, barlows
and calculating magnifications. Discover how to line up the finder
scope, what to look at and what you actually see. Also discover
useful magazines, charts, books and other publications.

FLINT INSTITUTE OF ARTS"
One of Michigan's largest and most enduring fine arts museums,
the Flint Institute of Arts just finished renovations and expansions
and reopened in September, 2005. An award-winning museum, the
Flint Institute of Arts houses the largest private collection
in Michigan, with objects representing a diversity of cultures
- from ancient Rome and Asia, to contemporary America and Europe.
The Flint Institute of Arts also hosts the finest touring exhibits
and offers art classes for students of all ages. Visitors can
enjoy the Art-A-La-Carte film and lecture series, the Sunday Bray
Gallery concerts, and the Friends of Modern Art film series offered

This exhibition was organized by the Gilcrease Museum and
presents 115 objects that celebrates the rich and diverse artistic
traditions of Mexico. The exhibition covers surveys over 3,500
years of art and culture, from the ancient worlds of the Mayans
and Aztecs to the 20th century works of Miguel Covarrubias and
Diego Rivera, and includes pottery, textiles, paintings, folk
art and prints.

Comprised of fifty-six paintings, this exhibit provides audiences
with an unforgettable experience of timeless works of art that
traverse the stylistic development of the European painting tradition,
from the early 14th to the late 19th century. The collection includes
outstanding examples of Italian Renaissance paintings on panel,
Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classical, Academic and the Pre-Raphaelites.
Among the many masters included in the exhibition are works by
Anthony van Dyck, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Jean-Leon Gerome, Francisco
de Goya, EdwardBuren-Jones, Angelica Kauffman, Jusepe de Ribera,
Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Peter Paul Rubens, James Tissot and Francisco

Flint has to offer, the Flint Art Fair. Ranked in the top 80 of
art fairs nationally, according to Sunshine Artist Magazine, the
Flint Art Fair has been a summer destination for over 20,000 art
fair lovers throughout Michigan and Canada for the past 37 years.
From sculpture, ceramics, and glass art, to paintings, photography,
textiles, fine jewelry, and wood creations, the fair showcases
distinctive, hand-made treasures for collectors of all types.
Listen to local music by some of the areas best
musicians, stop by the concessions tent and enjoy a soda or bratwurst,
and for those 21 years of age or older, quench your thirst with
an "adult" beverage at the Sidewalk Cafe. Friday from
